Tips on Finding Sponsors
- Start as soon as possible! There is no time
like the present!
- Set a goal. How much is your ad? How much are
your other expenses, including wardrobe, make-up and photos?
- Make a list of potential sponsors. Some ideas are:
Car dealerships, beauty salons, modeling agencies, dance studios, banks,
doctor's offices, lawyers, newspapers, television stations, radio stations,
restaurants, amusement parks, resorts, and insurance agencies.
- Arrange to meet with potential sponsors in
person. Ask who the appropriate contact would be, such as the owner or
manager.
- Decide how much to ask for. Think in terms of
the type of business and the size of the business.
- Dress the Part! You need to look like a
beauty queen. Wear a nice dress or business suit. If holding a local title,
be sure to wear your banner!
- Be Persistent! Asking for money is not easy,
but for every few "NO's", you are sure to get one "YES"!
- Go Prepared! Bring your paperwork, if any,
showing the ad size and the fact that their donation can be a deducted on
the taxes as an advertising expense. Be sure to confirm this with your
pageant director.
- Offer to make appearances at the potential
Sponsor's place of business in exchange for their sponsorship. Bring photos
to sign if you are a titleholder.
- Thank your Sponsors! Send a thank you note
immediately and let them know your progress.
